What the heck is eloping, anyway?

Maybe when you hear the word “eloping” the first picture that comes to mind is getting married by Elvis in a Vegas chapel, or your grandparents tying the knot last minute on a super tight budget (read: less than what you paid for your last smartphone).

Don’t get me wrong — there's nothing wrong with either of those. And getting married by Elvis might actually be hilarious (*disclaimer* I will not dress like Elvis).

That just isn't the kind of elopement we're about, and we're guessing the same goes for you.

Our kind of elopements put 100% of the focus on the marriage, the moment and the love between two people. On getting rid of any distractions, being present in the moment, and savouring every detail.

Eloping isn’t for everyone…

...but for the right couple, it's the most freeing way to celebrate a marriage. A new adventure to kick off the most amazing journey.

Imagine:

Marrying your best friend on a stunning cliff overlooking shimmering blue water.
Or flying by helicopter over treetops to a private island.

Hey - I’m Jeff!

I’ve been helping couples marry their best friends since 2015, but in 2019, a slightly outrageous idea popped into my head: I wonder if I could find a couple who would hop in a helicopter with me and a photographer to get married on a private island?

So I put out an invitation on Instagram to find a couple who wanted to elope somewhere awesome, and that’s when Sarah and Josh reached out. They were all in, so I hired a helicopter, called a friend (who happens to be an unreal photographer) to document it, and we all flew out there.

It turned out so much better than we could have ever expected. Check out a few photos.

When word got out about their adventure, more couples discovered they wanted to get married like this — they just didn’t know it was an option!

My friends brought the photo & video talent. I brought the stories. The rest is history.

Is this for you?

Great question! I think a couple that wants to elope is mostly excited to marry their best friend in a really beautiful place. We want the entire focus to be on you two getting married, with some time to take it all in with a gorgeous setting.
If you decided you wanted to fly the chopper to the Rocky Mountains, or land it in Times Square, the price maaaay be affected. Of course we’d be all in to do that, but the cost would be just a bit more. We'll chat about all that when we connect!
I totally get it, having your closest humans there for such a big moment can be really important. There are some creative ways to incorporate them into your day, but these elopements are best experienced with just the two of you and our team.
I’m a licensed officiant in the province of Ontario and able to take care of not only setting the vibe for your day and ceremony, but making it legal, too.
